Due date for filing I-T returns extended till Aug 31 2012

As expected the due date for filing income tax returns has been extended by a month to 31st August from 31st July. Have you missed filing your I-T returns for any reason? Take your second chance.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) extended the due date of filing income tax returns to 31st August for assessment year 2012-13 taking into consideration the disruption of normal activities of the public due to power failure that hit majority of the states in the country on 30 July and 31 July. It said the extension was also in view of the fact that e-filing of income tax returns has been made mandatory for individuals and HUFs whose annual income exceeds Rs 10 lakhs for assessment year 2012-13.

The official site for filing returns electronically, had also collapsed on 31st July due to heavy traffic. If you were among those left out, here's another chance for you.
